Miss Trini – The transition from the Old to the New!
Well I went to church to surrender all my past failures, regrets and disappointments. So I share this little prayer with you. It was a nice service.
Dear God,
I surrender this past year and give it up to you. I give you my failures, my regrets, and my disappointments, for we have no more use for them. Make me now a new person forgetting what lies behind and pressing on toward that which lies ahead of us. I give you all my hopes and dreams for the future. Purify them by your spirit so that our wills shall truly reflect your will for us.
Anyway, my night was pretty cool. It began around 9pm when we left for a kiddie party and old years night session. This was a bit strange to me…we went to my friends'''' moms'''' sisters'''' ex-husband and new wife''''s daughters party. Yup! A mouthful to me too, but the families all get along pretty well. So we stayed there a while, and I was kinda bored. Music was playing, but I dunno if I was just homesick. I guess this is my first Christmas away from all family and home. Aside from playing with the birthday girl and listening to the music, I was bored. We left around 10pm to head to the other party. It was about to be a 45 mins drive to the new location. There were also a bunch of peeps on the highway heading to parties. We got to the other house and it was hype…DJ, disco lights and lots of food and the bar around the pool. T''''was nice! That was where we rang in the New Year!!!!
Counting down with Times Square, I enjoyed it! They played mostly JA music & some Trini soca ''Dollar Wine'' and other. Nice!! As you can guess the menu was the same…rice and peas with curried chicken and jerk pork. About an hour later we left and headed to a new party, the other side of the family of my friend. There was the beginning of a light fog outside. The other party had a bit more diverse menu. Location, inside the house and around the pool, on the menu was stew fish, crab and of course jerks pork and curried chicken. At first I did not bother to eat, but they seemed offended, so when they made the last call for crab I had me some legs and claws. It was quite a fight, balancing the plate and trying to crack the shell. Finally got a squeeze on a lounge chair! After being squirted on and clawed, I packed up the crab and prepared to leave, ''''because it was now about 3am and the drivers were tired, and it was about a 45mins or more drive back to the house. As we set out there was more fog on the highway, and it thickened. The signs on the highway said ''thick fog ahead''. By this time we could only see car number one in front, and the lights of the others in the distance. I had never seen anything like this, but I was glad we made it home safely. Heard about a really bad accident which had traffic backed up for a while, not sure whether it occurred in the last few minutes of 2005 or the first few of 2006, either way I pray for the occupants. When we got to the street the fog was thick, and we could not even see the neighbours'''' house across the road. Wow!
All in all a good night, went to bed around 4am and got up at 11am. Not much is going on today just left over crab and KFC….the new year!! |
